Helping Clients Navigate Disappointment [Residential Broker #149]
Scripture
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18.
Devotional
Lost offers, failed inspections, low appraisals, unexpected repairs—disappointment is part of the real estate journey. Clients often experience deep emotional letdowns during these moments. Your role is not to fix their disappointment, but to help them navigate it with support and hope.
Helping clients through disappointment looks like:
listening more than speaking,
validating their feelings,
offering perspective without minimizing pain,
praying for wisdom (even silently),
gently pointing toward future possibilities.
Disappointment can feel like a setback, but God often uses it to redirect, protect, or prepare. When you help clients see the bigger picture, you become a vessel of comfort and reassurance.
Your presence in disappointment may be the ministry moment God uses most.
Reflection Questions
Which client is facing disappointment right now?
How can I support them without rushing their emotions?
How has God used disappointment in my own life for good?
Prayer
Lord, help me walk with clients through their disappointment. Give me compassion, patience, and gentle hope that reflects Your nearness. Amen.
