Holding the Line Over Time [Accountant #96]

Holding the Line Over Time [Accountant #96]

Scripture

“Stand firm. Let nothing move you.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58

Devotional

Integrity is not proven in a single decision—it is proven over time. It is one thing to do what is right once; it is another to continue doing what is right when pressure persists, expectations remain high, and fatigue sets in.

In accounting, pressure is rarely a one-time event. It can come in cycles—deadlines, repeated requests, ongoing expectations to move quickly or “be flexible.” Over time, this sustained pressure can wear down even strong convictions.

This is where endurance becomes essential.

Standing firm means holding your position even when it would be easier to give in. It means maintaining your standards even when no one else seems to notice. It means choosing consistency over convenience again and again.

God strengthens those who remain steadfast. He does not expect perfection, but He does call for perseverance. When you continue to act with integrity over time, your character becomes deeply rooted and your witness grows stronger.

Today, remember that integrity is not just a moment—it is a pattern.

Reflection Questions

• Where do I feel ongoing pressure to lower my standards?

• How do I respond when the same challenge keeps appearing?

• What helps me remain steady over time?

Action Step

Identify one recurring pressure in your work and decide in advance how you will consistently respond with integrity moving forward.

Prayer

Lord, help me stand firm over time. Strengthen my resolve so that I remain faithful, even when pressure is ongoing. Amen.
