Scripture: “A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.” — Proverbs 11:1 (ESV)
Devotional
In ancient times, dishonest merchants used unfair scales to cheat customers. Today, dishonest sales tactics can appear in exaggerated claims, hidden fees, intentionally confusing terms, or selectively withheld information. Scripture is clear: God hates deceptive practices—but He delights in fairness.
As a Christian sales professional, you are called to use “honest scales” in every aspect of your work. This means explaining terms plainly, representing products accurately, and refusing to manipulate people into decisions they don’t fully understand.
Honest scales may sometimes seem to cost you in the moment, but they build long-term trust and eternal reward. Customers may not fully grasp every detail, but God does—and He takes great pleasure in your commitment to truth.
Let your word, your contracts, and your presentations be places where God’s delight rests.
Reflection Questions:
· Are there any “gray areas” in my presentations or proposals that need to be clarified?
· How can I make my communication more honest, simple, and transparent?
· Do I care more about God’s delight or short-term gain?
Prayer
Father, remove all deceit from my work. Help me function with honest scales, fair practices, and transparent communication. May my integrity delight You and bless others. Amen.
