Honesty in Pricing Strategy [Residential Broker #52]

Scripture: “Unequal weights are an abomination to the Lord.” — Proverbs 20:23 (ESV)

Devotional

Pricing a home is one of the most delicate conversations you have with sellers. They may be emotionally attached to the property, unaware of market realities, or hopeful for an optimistic listing price. In these moments, honesty—paired with compassion—is essential.

Overpricing to win a listing is dishonest. Underpricing without proper explanation is manipulative. Avoiding the truth to keep sellers comfortable ultimately harms them. Unequal weights—distorted or imbalanced representations—may win the moment but fail the mission.

As a Christian broker, your responsibility is stewardship, not salesmanship. You steward the seller’s expectations, the market data, and the trust they’ve placed in you. Honest guidance protects them, even when it challenges them. Telling the truth in pricing—kindly, humbly, and clearly—sets the tone for the entire partnership.

Sellers may resist at first, but truth creates long-term trust. God honors the broker who refuses to manipulate numbers or emotions for personal gain.

Reflection Questions:

·       How honest am I in pricing conversations?

·       Do I ever avoid truth to keep clients comfortable?

·       How can I better steward the responsibility of pricing?

Prayer

Father, give me wisdom and courage to speak truth about pricing. Help me guide clients with clarity, compassion, and integrity. Let Your righteousness shape my counsel. Amen..
