Integrity in Team Competition [Sales Professional #49]

Scripture: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” — Philippians 2:3 (ESV)

Devotional

Sales teams often use competition to motivate performance—contests, rankings, and incentives. While healthy competition can sharpen effort, it can also tempt you toward selfish ambition: hoarding leads, withholding help, subtly undermining others, or feeling threatened by their success.

The way of Christ is radically different. You are called to humility—to consider others as significant, not obstacles. This doesn’t mean you stop striving for excellence, but it does mean you refuse to compromise love for the sake of winning.

You can celebrate your teammates’ victories, share wisdom freely, and support others even when you’re chasing the same goals. When your coworkers succeed, your team wins—and the way you respond shapes your witness.

Integrity in competition looks like playing hard, playing fair, and loving people more than prizes.

Reflection Questions:

·       How does competition affect my attitude toward coworkers?

·       Have I ever allowed selfish ambition to guide my behavior on the team?

·       How can I actively support someone else’s success this week?

Prayer

Jesus, free me from selfish ambition. Help me compete with integrity, humility, and love. Let my attitude toward my team reflect Your heart, even in a competitive environment. Amen.
