Scripture: John 5:17 — “But Jesus answered them, ‘My Father is working until now, and I am working.’”
Devotional
Jesus described Himself as a worker: “I am working.” His work was perfectly aligned with the Father’s will—purposeful, loving, and obedient. If you want to understand how to work in a way that honors God, look at Jesus.
He worked with focus, not frantic hurry. He knew when to say yes and when to walk away. He valued people over productivity, yet He was purposeful with His time. He wasn’t afraid of hard assignments, but He also withdrew to pray. He served, led, taught, healed, and ultimately gave His life—all as obedience to the Father’s work.
Your calling is not to copy Jesus’ specific tasks, but to imitate His heart. As you learn from Him, your work begins to reflect His priorities—truth, grace, faithfulness, compassion, and surrender to the Father’s will.

Which aspect of Jesus’ “work life” challenges you the most—His pace, priorities, compassion, or obedience?
How can you intentionally learn from Jesus as your model for how to work?
What is one change you sense God prompting you to make in how you approach your job?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for showing me what faithful work looks like. Teach me to work as You did—aligned with the Father’s will, full of grace and truth. Shape my attitudes, habits, and decisions to reflect You. Amen.
