Learning to Work from a Place of Rest [Sales Professional #157]
Scripture
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15 (ESV)
Devotional
Rest is not the opposite of work—it is the foundation of healthy work. When you work from rest rather than rest from exhaustion, your mind becomes clearer, your heart steadier, and your decisions wiser.
God designed you to function with cycles of labor and renewal. When you ignore rest—sleep, Sabbath, prayer, quiet—you begin to operate in survival mode. Stress becomes your normal. Anxiety becomes your baseline.
But rest restores perspective. It reminds you that you are not God, you are not infinite, and the world keeps spinning even when you stop. Quietness and trust—not constant activity—are the true sources of spiritual strength.
Reflection Questions
Am I working from rest, or working until I crash?
What changes can I make to restore true rhythms of Sabbath and quiet?
What lies do I believe that keep me from resting (e.g., “I don’t have time”)?
Prayer
Father, teach me to work from rest. Restore quietness and trust to my soul. Help me build rhythms that reflect Your design and rely on Your strength. Amen.
