Listening Like Jesus [Sales Professional #9]

Scripture: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak…” — James 1:19 (ESV)

Devotional

One of the most powerful skills in sales is also one of the most overlooked: listening. Not passive listening… but attentive, compassionate, Christlike listening.

Jesus was the greatest communicator the world has ever known, yet He often asked questions and listened deeply before responding. He saw beyond words into hearts. He noticed the unspoken needs, fears, and motivations.

Most clients don’t need a longer pitch—they need a better listener. They need someone who hears their concerns, understands their challenges, and cares enough to slow down and see the whole person.

Listening like Jesus builds trust. It reduces pressure. It fosters real relationships. And it positions you to provide solutions that truly serve people.

When you listen well, you love well.

Reflection Questions:

·       Am I more focused on being heard or hearing others?

·       What might I learn if I paused and listened more intentionally?

·       Who in my pipeline or client list needs me to listen better?

Prayer:

Jesus, teach me to listen the way You did—with patience, empathy, and compassion. Help me understand the true needs of those I serve and respond with grace. Amen.
