Apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5.
Devotional
One of the greatest temptations in a highly skilled profession is self-reliance. The more experience you gain, the easier it becomes to depend entirely on your own ability, preparation, and intellect.
But Jesus reminds you of a deeper truth: apart from Him, you can do nothing of eternal value.
This does not diminish your skills or education. Rather, it places them in proper perspective. Your abilities are gifts from God, and they are most effective when surrendered to Him daily.
Dependence on God is not passive—it is active trust. It means inviting Him into your decisions, conversations, and responsibilities. It means recognizing that wisdom, endurance, peace, and clarity ultimately come from Him.
Daily dependence also keeps pride in check. It reminds you that success is not achieved by your strength alone, but through God’s sustaining grace.
The strongest professionals are not those who need God the least, but those who recognize their need for Him the most.
Your calling was never meant to be carried alone.
