Scripture
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17
Devotional
Success and setbacks are both part of the legal profession.
Success can bring recognition, confidence, and opportunity. Setbacks can bring frustration, disappointment, and doubt. Both require perspective.
When you experience success, it is important to remain grounded. Recognize that your abilities, opportunities, and outcomes are ultimately gifts from God. Gratitude keeps success from turning into pride.
When you face setbacks, perspective helps you remain steady. Not every outcome will go your way, but each experience contributes to your growth.
Your identity is not defined by success or failure. It is rooted in who you are in Christ.
Maintaining perspective allows you to navigate both highs and lows with balance. It keeps you grounded in truth rather than circumstances.
Whether you are experiencing success or setback, God remains constant.
Reflection Questions
• How do I typically respond to success? To setbacks?
• What helps me maintain balance in both situations?
Action Step
Take a moment today to acknowledge either a recent success or setback and consciously place it in God’s hands.
Prayer
Lord, help me maintain perspective in all circumstances. Keep me grounded in Your truth and grateful for Your provision. Amen.
