Scripture: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.” — Colossians 3:17 (ESV)
Devotional
Banking can easily feel like just a career—a path of advancement, income, and achievement. But as a follower of Christ, your work is something much greater: it is a calling.
A calling is not defined by your job title or position. It is defined by God’s purpose for placing you where you are. You are in the banking industry not by accident, but by divine assignment.
This means your workplace is your mission field. The conversations you have, the decisions you make, the way you treat people—all of it carries spiritual significance. You are representing Christ in an environment that often values profit over people and performance over integrity.
Seeing your work as a calling changes your priorities. Success is no longer measured only by numbers or promotions, but by faithfulness, impact, and obedience. It shifts your focus from “What can I gain?” to “How can I serve?”
God has placed you in a position of trust and influence. And through that influence, He desires to work in you and through you.
You are not just building a career. You are living out a calling.
Reflection Questions:
• Do I view my role in banking as a calling or just a job?
• How is God using my current position to shape my character?
• Who in my workplace might God be calling me to serve more intentionally?
Action Step: Identify one person at work today and intentionally serve them with encouragement or support.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for placing me where I am. Help me to see my work as a calling from You. Use me to serve others and reflect Your character in my workplace. Amen.
