Scripture: “Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another.” — 1 Peter 5:5 (ESV)
Devotional
No matter how experienced you are, you will make mistakes—missed details, miscommunications, misjudged timelines, or incorrect assumptions. The question is not whether errors will happen, but how you respond when they do.
Pride deflects, blames, or hides. Humility owns, apologizes, and corrects. In commercial brokerage, admitting an error can feel risky—you fear losing trust or credibility. Yet many clients and colleagues are more impressed by honesty than perfection. When you proactively say, “I missed this, and here’s how I’m working to fix it,” you demonstrate both integrity and maturity.
Humility doesn’t lower your leadership; it strengthens it. It frees you from pretending and allows God’s grace to flow into your relationships and reputation. In the Kingdom of God, leaders are not those who never fail—they are those who handle failure with honesty and honor.
Reflection Questions:
· How do I typically respond when I realize I’ve made a professional mistake?
· Is there a past situation where I need to circle back, apologize, or clarify?
Prayer
Lord, give me a humble heart. When I fail, help me to own it quickly, make it right courageously, and learn from it deeply, so that You are honored even in my weaknesses. Amen.
