Peace Is Not Passivity [Real Estate Dev #158]

Scripture

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” — Colossians 3:15

Devotional

High-stakes development decisions can create significant internal pressure.

Millions of dollars may be involved. Investors expect answers. Employees depend on the business. Decisions can affect years of work.

In those moments, peace may seem unrealistic.

Yet Scripture tells believers to allow Christ's peace to rule.

Biblical peace does not mean avoiding difficult decisions. It does not mean every good decision will feel comfortable. Nor does it eliminate the responsibility to analyze risk.

Peace means your heart is governed by Christ rather than fear.

Fear creates frantic decisions.

Peace creates space for wisdom.

Fear asks, “What if everything goes wrong?”

Faith asks, “What is the faithful decision with the information God has given me?”

Sometimes peace accompanies a decision to move forward. Other times, persistent unrest may signal the need to slow down and examine something more carefully.

Do not treat every uncomfortable feeling as divine guidance. But do not ignore your inner condition either.

Bring anxiety into prayer. Examine the facts. Seek counsel. Ask whether your discomfort comes from legitimate concern, personal fear, or spiritual conviction.

Then allow Christ—not pressure—to rule your heart.

The objective is not merely making peaceful decisions.

It is becoming a peaceful decision-maker.

Reflection Questions

• How does pressure affect my ability to think clearly?

• What is currently disturbing my peace?

• Am I responding from fear or from faith?

Action Step

Before making one significant decision, pause long enough to identify what is driving you: wisdom, fear, pressure, ambition, or peace.

Prayer

Jesus, rule my heart with Your peace. Quiet fear, expose unhealthy motives, and give me clarity to make decisions from a place of trust rather than anxiety. Amen.
