Preparing Others to Succeed [Accountant #180]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“Encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
Devotional
Excellence is not only about doing your own work well. It also includes helping other people succeed.
Your experience may allow you to complete certain responsibilities quickly, but mature professionals recognize the importance of sharing what they know.
Perhaps a younger accountant needs guidance. A colleague needs context for a new responsibility. Someone outside finance needs help understanding a process. Your willingness to teach can multiply the value of what God has entrusted to you.
Helping others grow requires patience.
It is often faster to do something yourself than explain it to someone else. But constantly choosing efficiency over development can create dependency rather than growth.
Jesus invested deeply in His disciples. He taught them, corrected them, gave them responsibility, and prepared them to continue the work after Him.
Your workplace provides smaller but meaningful opportunities to practice the same principle.
Share knowledge generously. Explain the reason behind processes. Allow people to ask questions. Give others opportunities to grow.
Your expertise becomes more valuable when it does not stop with you.
Reflection Questions
Who could benefit from something I know?
Am I patient when helping less experienced colleagues learn?
Do I tend to protect knowledge or share it?
Action Step
Teach or explain one useful professional concept or process to someone who would benefit from understanding it better.
Prayer
Lord, help me use my experience to strengthen others. Give me patience to teach, generosity to share, and humility to invest in the growth of those around me. Amen.
