Recognizing God’s Presence in Your Work [Saturday Edition #3]

Scripture: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5

Devotional

It’s one thing to believe that God is present in your life—it’s another to recognize His presence in the middle of your everyday work.

This past week likely included a mix of conversations, decisions, pressures, and responsibilities. Some moments may have felt meaningful and clear, while others may have felt routine, stressful, or even overwhelming. But through all of it, one truth remained constant: God was with you.

The challenge is not His absence—it’s our awareness.

It’s easy to look for God in obvious or significant moments, but He is just as present in the ordinary. He is present in the difficult conversation, the unexpected challenge, the quiet task, and even the moments when you felt uncertain or stretched.

Sometimes His presence is seen in guidance.

Sometimes it’s felt in peace.

Sometimes it’s revealed through conviction or redirection.

And sometimes, it’s simply the quiet assurance that you are not walking through your responsibilities alone.

Take time today to look back on your week with this perspective. Where might God have been at work in ways you didn’t initially notice? Were there moments where you sensed His guidance, His restraint, or His provision?

As you reflect, you may begin to see that your work is not just a place where you act—it is a place where you walk with God.

The more you recognize His presence, the more your work becomes not just purposeful—but relational.

Reflection Questions:

  • When did I sense God’s presence during my responsibilities this week?

  • Were there moments where I relied on my own understanding instead of seeking Him?

  • How did God guide, redirect, or provide for me in ways I may have overlooked?

  • What would it look like to be more aware of His presence in my work moving forward?

Action Step: Write down two moments from this past week where you now recognize God may have been present or at work. Thank Him specifically for each one.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being with me in every moment of this past week, even when I did not recognize it. Open my eyes to see Your presence more clearly in my daily work. Help me to rely on You, seek You, and walk with You in every responsibility I carry. Teach me to live with greater awareness that I am never alone. Amen.
