Release What You Cannot Fix Today [Sunday Edition #21]
Reflect & Realign
Scripture
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22.
Devotional
Some frustrations are resolved quickly.
Others remain waiting for us when Monday arrives.
There may be a problem at work that still doesn't have an answer. A relationship may remain strained. A decision may still be unresolved. Someone may still owe you a response. A situation you hoped would change may look exactly the same as it did a week ago.
Sunday offers an important spiritual discipline: learning to leave unresolved things unresolved for a while.
You do not have to solve everything today.
Rest requires trust because it means temporarily releasing your grip on problems that still matter. It is acknowledging that while you stop working, God remains fully present and fully capable.
That can be difficult when your mind wants to replay conversations, develop solutions, anticipate problems, or prepare responses. But carrying frustration through your day of rest rarely prepares you well for the week ahead. More often, it drains the strength you will need when the time comes to act.
God invites you to cast your cares upon Him because He can carry what you cannot.
Today, release last week's frustrations. Some may require action tomorrow, but they do not require your anxiety today.
Then surrender the coming week as well.
There will almost certainly be interruptions, inconveniences, delays, and people who do not behave according to your expectations. You cannot control those circumstances, but with God's help, you can choose how you respond to them.
Rest today in His care.
Let Him renew your patience.
Let Him restore your perspective.
And when tomorrow comes, return to your responsibilities with a quieter heart and renewed confidence that God will give you the wisdom and grace you need.
Reflection Questions
What unresolved frustration from this past week am I still carrying?
Is there anything I am mentally trying to solve today that can wait until tomorrow?
What would it look like to genuinely entrust this situation to God?
How can I prepare my heart to respond differently to frustration in the coming week?
Action Step
Name one unresolved frustration you are carrying. Tell God specifically that you are releasing it to Him for today. If action is needed, write down the next appropriate step and when you will take it. Then give yourself permission to stop carrying it until that time.
Prayer
Lord, I bring You the unresolved frustrations I have carried from this past week. Some situations I can change, and others are beyond my control. Give me wisdom to know the difference. Today, help me release them all into Your hands and truly rest. Renew my patience, restore my perspective, and prepare my heart for the week ahead. When frustrations come, help me respond with wisdom, grace, and the peace that comes from trusting You. Amen.
