Experience is valuable. Over time, you develop instincts, knowledge, and professional judgment that allow you to recognize problems more quickly and handle responsibilities with greater confidence. But experience can also create a subtle danger: believing you no longer need to learn.
Scripture connects wisdom with teachability. Truly wise people recognize that growth never ends.
For accountants, this is especially important. Regulations change, technology evolves, organizations become more complex, and new challenges continually emerge. Professional competence requires ongoing learning. Spiritual maturity requires the same posture.
Teachability means being willing to ask questions, receive feedback, reconsider assumptions, and learn from people who may know something you do not. It requires enough humility to admit that experience does not make you infallible.
Sometimes God uses younger colleagues, unexpected situations, mistakes, or constructive criticism to teach you something important. Pride resists those lessons. Humility receives them.
Remaining teachable does not diminish your expertise. It strengthens it.
The most respected professionals are often those who combine deep knowledge with genuine humility. They are confident enough to contribute but humble enough to continue growing.
Today, resist the temptation to assume you already know enough. Ask God to keep your mind curious and your heart teachable.
