Reputation: A Stewardship, Not an Asset [Residential Broker #37]

Scripture: “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.” — Proverbs 22:1 (ESV)

Devotional

Your reputation is not just a business asset—it is a stewardship entrusted to you by God. A good name takes years to build and moments to lose. In real estate, where clients rely heavily on trust, your reputation carries eternal significance.

A good name is built on countless small decisions: returning calls promptly, following through on promises, treating everyone respectfully, and being dependable even when stressed. It’s built on the way you handle conflict, the way you honor confidentiality, and the way you speak about others—both publicly and privately.

Your reputation is not about popularity; it's about integrity. It’s not about what people think of you; it’s about what your character says about Christ. A trustworthy broker becomes a powerful instrument in God’s hands—because people listen to those they trust.

Guard your name with discipline. Protect it with humility. Strengthen it through consistent faithfulness. And surrender it to God, knowing He is the One who establishes your influence.

Reflection Questions:

·       What words do clients use to describe me—honestly?

·       Which reputation habits need strengthening?

·       How can I better reflect Christ through my professional name?

Prayer

Lord, help me steward my reputation with wisdom and humility. Build in me a name that honors You and blesses others. Let my character speak louder than my accomplishments. Amen.
