Scripture: “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” — Proverbs 21:5

Devotional

Speed is often rewarded in modern workplaces, yet Scripture consistently warns against haste. In accounting, rushing can compromise accuracy, clarity, and judgment. What feels efficient in the moment may create complications later.

Diligence requires patience. It invites you to slow down enough to think clearly, review carefully, and respond wisely. While pressure may push you toward quick solutions, God’s wisdom often calls for thoughtful consideration.

Resisting haste is an act of trust. It acknowledges that thoroughness matters more than immediacy and that faithfulness outweighs speed. When you choose diligence over haste, you honor both God and those you serve.

Today, allow yourself the discipline of careful work. Trust that God honors diligence done in faith.

Reflection Questions

  1. When are you most tempted to rush your work?

  2. How might slowing down improve both accuracy and peace?

Prayer

God, help me resist the pressure to rush. Teach me to work diligently and thoughtfully, trusting You with timing and outcomes. Amen.
