Scripture
“Let the righteous strike me—it is a kindness…” — Psalm 141:5
Devotional
Criticism can be difficult to receive.
In banking, your decisions and performance are constantly evaluated. Feedback may come from clients, leadership, coworkers, or regulators. Some criticism may be unfair, while other feedback may reveal areas where growth is needed.
Your response matters.
Pride resists correction. Wisdom learns from it.
This does not mean every criticism is accurate or should define you. But even difficult feedback can become an opportunity for growth when approached with humility and discernment.
A wise person listens carefully, evaluates honestly, and responds calmly. Defensiveness often prevents growth, while humility creates room for maturity and improvement.
Jesus Himself was misunderstood and criticized, yet He responded with steadiness and self-control.
Today, approach criticism with wisdom rather than emotion. Let it refine you rather than discourage you.
Reflection Questions
• How do I typically respond to criticism?
• Is there feedback I need to humbly consider more carefully?
Action Step
When receiving feedback today, focus first on listening and understanding before responding.
Prayer
Father, give me humility to receive correction wisely. Help me to grow through feedback and respond with grace and maturity. Amen.
