Rest & Renew

Resting in God as Your Source [Sunday Edition #8]

Scripture

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Devotional

Before you step into another week, take a moment to remember where your strength truly comes from.

You are not your own source.

The world encourages independence—to rely on yourself, trust your instincts, and prove your capability. But God calls you to something different: dependence. Not because you are incapable, but because He is the true source of wisdom, strength, and direction.

This is where rest begins.

When you rely on yourself, everything feels heavier. Every decision carries pressure. Every challenge feels like something you must figure out on your own. But when you trust in God as your source, you are freed from that burden.

You don’t have to have all the answers.

You don’t have to carry every responsibility alone.

You don’t have to rely on your own understanding.

You are invited to trust.

Rest is choosing to lean on God instead of yourself. It is acknowledging that He sees what you cannot see, knows what you do not know, and is able to guide you in ways you could not accomplish on your own.

As you prepare for the week ahead, shift your posture. Instead of stepping into your responsibilities with self-reliance, step in with dependence.

Ask Him for wisdom.

Invite Him into your decisions.

Trust Him with the path ahead.

When God is your source, your work is no longer driven by pressure—it is sustained by His presence.

Reflection Questions

  • Where do I feel the greatest pressure to rely on myself?

  • Do I truly trust God to guide my decisions and responsibilities?

  • What would change if I consistently depended on God throughout my workday?

  • How can I intentionally invite God into my work this coming week?

Action Step

At the start of each workday this week, take one minute to pray and invite God into your responsibilities. Ask Him specifically for wisdom and guidance for what lies ahead.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being my source of strength and wisdom. Help me to trust You fully and to lean not on my own understanding. Teach me to depend on You in every decision, every challenge, and every responsibility. As I step into this new week, guide my path and remind me that I am not walking alone. Amen.
