Resting in God, Not in Results [Sales Professional #76]

Scripture: “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8 (ESV)

Devotional

It can be hard to “turn off” your mind after a long day in sales. Conversations replay, numbers swirl, and tomorrow’s tasks creep into tonight’s thoughts. But God desires for you to rest—not just physically, but spiritually and mentally.

David was surrounded by trouble, yet he said he could lie down and sleep in peace because the Lord made him dwell in safety. Your ultimate security is not in today’s sales or tomorrow’s projections; it is in the God who holds your life, your future, and your daily bread.

Rest is an expression of trust. When you choose to stop working, step away from your inbox, and sleep, you are declaring: God is God, not me. He can be trusted while I rest.

Ask Him to quiet your heart at night, guarding you from the constant mental noise of performance and pressure.

Reflection Questions:

·       Do I struggle to mentally “shut down” from work at the end of the day?

·       What thoughts most often disturb my rest?

·       What evening rhythms could help me surrender my workday to God?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to rest in You. Quiet my mind from worries about results and tomorrow’s tasks. Help me sleep in peace, trusting that You are faithful and in control. Amen.
