Resting in God’s Faithfulness [Accountant #10]

Scripture: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” — Psalm 127:1

Devotional

Accounting often rewards long hours, mental endurance, and constant availability. While diligence is honorable, Scripture reminds us that work alone does not sustain us—God does.

Rest is not a sign of weakness; it is an expression of trust. When you rest, you acknowledge that God is at work even when you are not. You release control and reaffirm faith in His faithfulness.

Without rest, even meaningful work becomes burdensome. God invites you to labor faithfully—but not endlessly. He calls you to trust Him with both effort and outcome.

Today, remember that your value is not measured by productivity alone. You are a steward, not a savior. God is faithful to carry what you cannot.

Reflection Questions

  1. Do you struggle to rest because you fear falling behind?

  2. How might rest strengthen rather than hinder your faithfulness?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to rest in You. Help me trust Your faithfulness more than my effort and remember that You are the One who sustains my work. Amen.
