Rest & Renew
Scripture
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9
Devotional
As you prepare for the week ahead, take a moment to remember who is truly in control.
You can plan. You can prepare. You can give your best effort. But ultimately, God is the one who establishes your steps.
This is not meant to create uncertainty—it is meant to create peace.
When you believe everything depends on you, work becomes heavy. Every decision carries pressure. Every outcome feels personal. But when you remember that God is sovereign, everything shifts.
You are free to plan without anxiety.
You are free to work without fear.
You are free to trust without needing to control.
God sees what you cannot see. He understands what you do not. He is working in ways that go beyond your perspective and your timeline.
Rest is choosing to believe this is true.
It is laying down the need to control every detail and instead trusting that God is guiding your path—even when things unfold differently than expected.
As you enter the new week, hold your plans loosely. Do your work with excellence, but trust God with the direction, timing, and results.
You are responsible for your obedience.
God is responsible for the outcome.
And He is faithful.
Reflection Questions
Do I truly trust that God is in control of my circumstances and outcomes?
What fears or uncertainties am I carrying into this next week?
How would my mindset change if I fully trusted God’s sovereignty?
What would it look like to hold my plans more loosely?
Action Step
Take a moment to write down your top priorities for the coming week. Then pray over them, intentionally surrendering each one to God and trusting Him with how they unfold.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being sovereign over every detail of my life. Help me to trust You more fully with my plans, my work, and my future. Release me from the pressure to control what only You can manage. As I step into this new week, guide my steps and give me peace in knowing that You are in control. Amen.
