Scripture: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10
Devotional
As you come to the end of the week, it’s easy to measure yourself by what you accomplished—or what you didn’t. The unfinished tasks, the missed opportunities, and the pressure to do more can quietly shape how you view yourself. But before you step into another week, God invites you to remember something deeper: your calling begins with who you are, not just what you do.
You are God’s workmanship. Created with intention. Designed with purpose. Positioned exactly where you are for a reason.
Your work matters—but it is not what defines you. Your identity is not rooted in your performance, your productivity, or your results. It is rooted in Christ. And from that identity flows your calling.
Rest is where this truth settles into your heart.
When you rest, you are not stepping away from purpose—you are stepping into trust. You are acknowledging that God is the one who ultimately establishes your steps, uses your work, and brings about results. You are releasing the pressure to carry what was never yours to control.
As you prepare for the week ahead, don’t begin with striving. Begin with surrender. Let your work flow from a place of identity, not insecurity. From calling, not comparison. From trust, not pressure.
You don’t have to prove your purpose—you’ve already been given one.
Reflection Questions:
In what ways have I been measuring myself by my work instead of my identity in Christ?
What pressures from this past week do I need to release to God?
Do I truly believe that God has placed me where I am for a purpose?
What would it look like to enter this next week with greater trust in God?
Action Step: Before the day ends, write down one pressure, expectation, or outcome you have been carrying. Surrender it to God in prayer, and intentionally choose to trust Him with it as you enter the new week.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for creating me with purpose and placing me exactly where I am. Help me to rest in my identity as Your child, not in what I accomplish. I release the pressures I’ve been carrying and choose to trust You with the outcomes. As I step into a new week, guide me to live and work from a place of peace, confidence, and dependence on You. Amen.
