Seeking God’s Favor, Not Just Human Favor [Sales Professional #186]
Listen to today's devotional:
Scripture
“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” — Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)
Devotional
Approval is a powerful motivator in sales—client approval, manager approval, team approval. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be respected. But when pleasing people becomes your focus, you fall into a spiritual trap.
The fear of man leads to compromise, anxiety, flattery, and overcommitment. Trusting in the Lord leads to safety—security, stability, peace.
Seek God’s favor above all. When He is pleased, you are free from the pressure to constantly impress others. And ironically, people tend to respect those who walk with quiet confidence in God rather than desperately chasing approval.
Reflection Questions
Whose approval most strongly shapes my decisions or emotions?
Have I compromised conviction to win favor?
What would it look like to seek God’s pleasure first?
Prayer
Lord, break the power of the fear of man in my life. Help me seek Your favor above all else. Make my heart secure in Your approval. Amen.
