Serving Beyond Obligation [Attorney #88]

Serving Beyond Obligation [Attorney #88]

Scripture

“If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.” — Matthew 5:41

Devotional

In your role as an attorney, there are clear expectations—tasks to complete, responsibilities to fulfill, and standards to meet. But Jesus calls you to go beyond what is required.

Serving beyond obligation is not about overworking or ignoring healthy boundaries. It is about your mindset. It is choosing to approach your work with generosity, care, and excellence.

It might look like taking extra time to ensure a client fully understands their situation. It might mean offering thoughtful guidance instead of the minimum required response. It could be following through more thoroughly than expected.

When you go the extra mile, you reflect a different standard—one that is not driven by obligation, but by purpose.

This kind of service builds trust and distinguishes your work. More importantly, it reflects the heart of Christ, who consistently gave more than what was required.

Reflection Questions

• Where do I tend to do the minimum instead of going beyond?

• What motivates me to give extra effort—or hold back?

Action Step

Choose one task or interaction today and intentionally go beyond what is expected in quality or care.

Prayer

God, help me serve with excellence and generosity. Let my work reflect Your heart in everything I do. Amen.
