Serving by Explaining the “Why” [Commercial Broker #116]
Scripture
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.” — Proverbs 4:7 (ESV)
Devotional
Clients don’t just need to know what is happening—they need to know why. Why a term matters. Why a negotiation strategy makes sense. Why a particular property is a better fit. Why you’re recommending caution or boldness.
Explaining the “why” builds understanding, not just compliance. It shows respect for your client’s intelligence and helps them make informed decisions. When you offer the reasoning behind your advice, you are empowering them rather than simply directing them.
God often explains the “why” behind His commands, revealing His heart and wisdom. As His representative in your profession, you can do the same—revealing not only information but insight.
Reflection Questions
Do I tend to give instructions and updates without taking time to explain the reasoning behind them?
Which client this week needs more of the “why” behind my recommendations?
Prayer
Lord, help me offer insight, not just information. Give me clarity to explain the “why” so clients gain wisdom through every step. Amen.
