Serving by Naming the Elephant in the Room [Commercial Broker #132]

Sometimes in a deal, everyone feels the same tension but no one wants to name it. Maybe a buyer is clearly overextending, a landlord is silently offended, or a tenant is signaling hesitation. The “elephant” stands in the middle of the room, shaping the mood but going unaddressed.
As a Christian broker, you can lovingly bring truth into the open. You might say, “I sense there’s some hesitation about this term—can we talk about it?” or, “I feel like we’re avoiding the biggest concern; could we surface it so we don’t waste time?” Naming what others are afraid to name can actually create peace, not conflict.
Truth, spoken humbly, clears the air. It invites honest dialogue and prevents misunderstandings from festering. You are not stirring up trouble; you are making room for real resolution instead of surface agreement.
Serving your clients and stakeholders sometimes means courageously saying what everyone is thinking but no one wants to say aloud.

What fears keep me from speaking the truth that might actually lead to greater peace?
Prayer
Holy Spirit, give me courage and discernment to speak truth where it’s needed. Help me name issues in ways that build peace instead of division. Amen.
