Scripture
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23
Devotional
In development, responsibility is rarely isolated. Projects involve layers of coordination, and it can be easy to shift blame when something goes wrong—delays, cost overruns, or missed expectations.
But serving with excellence means taking ownership.
Ownership goes beyond assigned responsibility. It reflects a mindset that says, “I will see this through.” It means stepping in when something falls short, even if it wasn’t technically your fault. It means prioritizing solutions over excuses.
When you take ownership, you serve everyone involved—your team, your partners, your clients. You create stability in uncertain situations and demonstrate leadership that others can trust.
This posture reflects Christ. He took responsibility for what was not His fault—bearing the weight of our sin to bring restoration. While your work is not that sacrifice, your willingness to take ownership reflects the same servant-hearted leadership.
Ownership builds credibility. It fosters trust. It creates momentum toward resolution rather than division.
Serving others well means stepping forward, not stepping back.
