Serving by Trusting God with Outcomes [Commercial Broker #140]

Scripture

“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.” — Proverbs 21:31 (ESV)

Devotional

You can research thoroughly, communicate clearly, negotiate wisely, and serve faithfully—and still lose a deal. A competitor may swoop in, a client may change direction, or circumstances may shift beyond your control. In those moments, your heart is tested: where is your trust?

God calls you to “make the horse ready”—to prepare, work, and steward every opportunity with excellence. But He also reminds you that the ultimate outcome belongs to Him. Your identity and security cannot rest in whether a specific deal closes or falls apart.

Trusting Him with outcomes frees you from desperation in negotiations and from despair when things don’t go your way. You can say, “Lord, I’ve done what I know to do. I leave the results in Your hands.” That posture allows you to serve with open hands rather than clenched fists.

Your calling is faithfulness; His role is final victory.

Reflection Questions

Which current deal or situation am I gripping too tightly, as if everything depends on me?

What would it look like, practically and prayerfully, to release that outcome to God?

Prayer

Lord, help me prepare well and serve well, but ultimately trust You with every result. Remind me that my future is in Your hands, not in any single transaction. Amen.
