Serving Through Clarity in Fees and Costs [Commercial Broker #128]
Scripture
“You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measures of length or weight or quantity.” — Leviticus 19:35 (ESV)
Devotional
Few things create mistrust faster than surprise costs. If clients feel blindsided by fees, pass-through expenses, or commission structures they didn’t fully understand, even a good outcome can leave a bad taste.
Serving with excellence means being upfront and clear about how you’re compensated, what costs may arise, and where financial responsibilities lie. It means answering awkward questions directly, not hiding behind jargon or burying key details in fine print.
This clarity reflects God’s heart for honest measures and fair dealing. It protects your clients from feeling manipulated and allows you to operate with a clean conscience. It also sets you apart in an industry where some are vague on purpose.
When people know you are financially transparent, their trust in every other part of your work increases.
Reflection Questions
Are there any aspects of my fees or compensation that I tend to gloss over rather than explain clearly?
What change could I make to ensure greater transparency around costs for every client?
Prayer
Father, help me be completely honest and clear about money in my work. Let there be no hidden corners or confusing terms—only transparency that honors You and serves others. Amen.
