Serving Through Courageous Recommendations [Commercial Broker #134]

Scripture

“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” — Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)

Devotional

It’s one thing to present options; it’s another to offer a clear recommendation. Sometimes you hold back because you fear how your client will respond. You don’t want to upset them, so you stay vague: “Either way could work.” But deep down, you know one path is wiser.

Serving well means being willing to say, “If this were my decision, here’s what I would do—and why.” You still respect their authority to choose, but you don’t hide your best judgment. You’re not there just to facilitate; you’re there to guide.

The fear of people’s reactions can trap you into indecision or passivity. Trust in God frees you to speak courageously, knowing your job is to be faithful, not to control the outcome. Your clients may not always agree, but they will respect your honesty.

Courageous recommendations are an expression of love, not control. You’re risking comfort to offer what you truly believe is best.

Reflection Questions

Have I recently softened or withheld my real recommendation out of fear of a client’s reaction?

What situation right now calls for a more direct, courageous expression of my best counsel?

Prayer

Lord, free me from the fear of people’s opinions. Help me offer clear, honest, and loving recommendations, trusting You with the results. Amen.
