Leadership in development carries significant influence. Your decisions affect budgets, timelines, opportunities, and people’s livelihoods. Because of this, leadership is not merely a position—it is a responsibility.
Jesus completely redefined greatness by connecting leadership with service. In God’s Kingdom, influence is not given primarily for personal advancement, but for the benefit of others.
Responsible leadership recognizes the weight of that influence. It understands that decisions affect real people—employees, contractors, tenants, investors, and communities. It approaches leadership with humility rather than entitlement.
Serving through leadership means using your authority wisely. It means creating healthy work environments, communicating honestly, making thoughtful decisions, and protecting the well-being of those impacted by your projects.
It also means recognizing that leadership is stewardship. God has entrusted you with influence temporarily, and He cares deeply about how you use it.
The strongest leaders are not those who demand the most attention—they are those who consistently serve others with wisdom, humility, and integrity.
As a Christian developer, your leadership should reflect Christ’s example. He used His authority to lift others up, not elevate Himself. When you lead with that same mindset, your influence becomes a powerful testimony to the people around you.

Prayer
Lord, help me lead responsibly and serve faithfully through the influence You’ve entrusted to me. Teach me to lead with humility, wisdom, and care for others. Amen.
