Sometimes you pour time into a prospect—researching, touring, advising—only to watch the assignment go to someone else. In those moments, disappointment is real. You may feel used, overlooked, or tempted to write that person off.
But your service was never wasted if it was done for the Lord. God sees every hour you invested, every email you sent, every thoughtful insight you offered. Even if you didn’t win the business, you still had the chance to model Christ’s character. You “worked heartily for the Lord,” and He will reward that, even if people don’t.
Serving well when you don’t get the assignment is one of the most powerful tests of your heart. It reveals whether you were serving merely for outcome—or as worship. Sometimes, your gracious response in loss leaves a deeper mark than your performance in success.

How have I responded in the past when I invested in a prospect and didn’t win the work?
What would it look like to release those disappointments to God and keep serving with a whole heart?
Prayer
Lord, when my work doesn’t lead to the results I hoped for, remind me that nothing done for You is wasted. Help me respond with grace, trusting Your provision and timing. Amen.
