Scripture: “But when you give… do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” — Matthew 6:3 (ESV)
Devotional
It’s natural to want recognition. To be noticed. To have your efforts acknowledged.
But true service is not driven by recognition—it is driven by purpose.
When you serve others without expecting acknowledgment, your motivation shifts. You’re no longer working for praise—you’re working from a place of faithfulness.
This kind of service brings freedom. You don’t have to measure your value by how others respond. You don’t have to seek validation for your efforts.
Instead, you can focus on serving well—because it is right, not because it is noticed.
God sees what others may overlook. He values the quiet acts of service, the unseen effort, and the faithful heart.
Your work matters—even when it goes unrecognized.
Today, serve wholeheartedly—without the need for acknowledgment.
Reflection Questions:
• How much do I depend on recognition for motivation?
• How do I respond when my efforts go unnoticed?
• What would it look like to serve purely out of faithfulness?
Action Step: Do one act of service today without drawing attention to it.
Prayer
Lord, help me to serve with a humble heart. Free me from the need for recognition, and help me to find joy in serving You. Amen.
