Skilled by God for Your Work [TDPOW #23]

Scripture: Exodus 31:3 — “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship…”

Devotional

When God appointed Bezalel to help build the tabernacle, He didn’t just give him instructions—He filled him with skill. Ability, intelligence, knowledge, and craftsmanship were described as gifts from God. That means your skills are not random; they are entrusted.

Whether your work is hands-on, analytical, relational, creative, or administrative, God has wired you with specific capacities for a reason. He delights in using skilled people to accomplish His purposes in the world. When you grow in your craft, you’re not just “getting better at your job”—you are stewarding something sacred.

This perspective changes how you view training, learning, and improvement. Professional development becomes spiritual development. Study, practice, and refining your abilities are acts of obedience. God is honored when you use what He’s given you with care and intentionality.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What specific skills or abilities has God entrusted to you in your work?

  2. How can you intentionally grow or sharpen those skills in this season?

  3. In what ways can you offer your craftsmanship back to God today?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the skills and abilities You’ve given me. Help me steward them well. Show me how to grow, learn, and improve so that my work reflects Your excellence and brings You glory. Amen.
