Speaking Truth with Grace [Attorney #74]

Speaking Truth with Grace [Attorney #74]

Scripture: “Speak the truth in love.” — Ephesians 4:15

Devotional

As an attorney, your role often requires direct communication—delivering difficult news, confronting opposing arguments, or advising clients on hard truths. In these moments, how you speak matters just as much as what you say.

Truth without grace can feel harsh. Grace without truth can become misleading. But when truth and grace are combined, they reflect the character of Christ.

You have opportunities daily to speak in ways that are both clear and compassionate. Whether addressing a client’s unrealistic expectations or navigating tense negotiations, your tone, posture, and intention shape how your message is received.

Speaking truth with grace requires humility. It requires seeing people not as obstacles, but as individuals created in God’s image. It requires choosing words that build clarity without diminishing dignity.

When your communication reflects both truth and grace, it becomes a powerful testimony in a profession often marked by conflict and tension.

Reflection Questions:

• Do my words consistently reflect both truth and grace?

• Where might I need to adjust my tone or approach?

Action Step: In your next difficult conversation, intentionally focus on both clarity and compassion.

Prayer

God, guide my words. Help me to speak truthfully and graciously in every conversation. Amen.
