Staying Honest About Your Limitations [Attorney #163]
Scripture
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Romans 12:16.
Devotional
The legal profession often rewards confidence and expertise. While competence is important, there is danger in pretending to know more than you do or carrying responsibilities beyond your limits.
Wisdom includes recognizing your limitations honestly.
No attorney knows everything. No professional has complete understanding in every situation. Humility allows you to ask questions, seek counsel, and acknowledge areas where you need help or additional perspective.
Pretending to have all the answers may protect pride temporarily, but it often weakens trust over time. Honest humility, on the other hand, strengthens credibility because people know they can trust your judgment and honesty.
God never intended for you to rely solely on your own strength or understanding. He designed you to depend on Him and to learn from others.
Recognizing limitations is not weakness—it is wisdom.
Healthy humility also protects you from exhaustion and burnout. It reminds you that you are human, not limitless.
Faithful stewardship includes knowing where you need support, guidance, or rest.

Seek input, clarification, or assistance in one area today where you would normally try to handle everything yourself.
Prayer
Lord, help me walk in humility and honesty about my limitations. Teach me to depend on You and seek wisdom from others when needed. Amen.
