Stewarding Feedback as a Gift [TDPOW #102]

Stewarding Feedback as a Gift [TDPOW #102]

Scripture: “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.” Proverbs 9:9.

Devotional

Feedback at work can feel threatening, especially when it exposes your weaknesses or mistakes. But from God’s perspective, correction is a gift. It’s one of the main ways you grow in skill, wisdom, and Christlike character.

A wise person receives instruction and becomes wiser. That doesn’t mean all feedback is perfectly delivered or entirely accurate. But a steward sifts it for whatever truth God might be using to shape them. Instead of reacting defensively, you can ask, “Lord, is there something here You want me to see?”

When you treat feedback as a pathway to growth rather than a threat to your identity, you become more approachable, more effective, and more mature. You’re not less secure; you’re more secure—because your worth is rooted in Christ, not in flawless performance.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How do you typically react when you receive critical feedback at work?

  2. Is there recent feedback you need to revisit with a humble, teachable heart?

  3. How can you remind yourself that your identity is secure in Christ as you receive correction?

Prayer

Lord, make me wise, not defensive. Help me see feedback as a tool in Your hands for my growth. Give me discernment to receive what is true and courage to change where needed, resting in my identity in You. Amen.
