Stewarding Hospitality at Work [TDPOW #109]

Stewarding Hospitality at Work [TDPOW #109]

Scripture

Hebrews 13:2 — “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers…”

Devotional

Hospitality is more than having people over for dinner. It’s creating spaces—physical and relational—where others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Your workplace is full of people who feel unseen, new, anxious, or out of place. Stewardship means noticing them and making room.

Hospitality at work might look like greeting the new hire by name, inviting someone to lunch, helping a temp or contractor feel included, listening well in meetings, or offering practical help when someone is overwhelmed. You may not control the whole culture, but you can cultivate a hospitable presence around you.

When you practice hospitality, you mirror the heart of God, who welcomed you into His family when you were far off. Your desk, office, or workstation can become a doorway of grace—where people experience a small taste of the welcome Christ offers.

Reflection Questions

Who in your workplace may feel like an outsider, overlooked, or alone?

How could you show hospitality to them in a simple, practical way this week?

What might it look like for your personal “space” at work to reflect God’s welcome?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for welcoming me into Your family. Help me reflect that welcome in my workplace. Open my eyes to those who feel unseen, and show me how to extend kindness and hospitality in Your name. Amen.
