Scripture: Proverbs 1:5 — “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”
Devotional
Every job offers ongoing opportunities to learn—new skills, systems, perspectives, and people. Wise stewardship means treating learning as a privilege, not an inconvenience. Growing in your abilities is not just career development; it’s honoring the God who gave you a mind and gifts to develop.
Sometimes pride resists learning—“I already know enough.” Sometimes fear resists it—“What if I can’t keep up?” In both cases, the focus is on self. But a steward asks, “How can I better serve others and glorify God by growing in what I know and can do?”
Leaning into learning might mean asking more questions, welcoming feedback, taking a course, reading, or stretching into new responsibilities. Over time, a teachable spirit becomes one of your greatest assets—not just for your career, but for your walk with Christ.
Reflection Questions:
How would you describe your current attitude toward learning at work—eager, resistant, or indifferent?
What new skill or area of knowledge might God be nudging you to pursue?
How can you adopt a more teachable posture in your daily responsibilities?
Prayer
Father, thank You for the ability to learn and grow. Keep me from pride and fear that resist growth. Give me a teachable heart, and show me how to develop my skills to better serve You and others. Amen.
