Stewarding What Belongs to Others [TDPOW #90]

Stewarding What Belongs to Others [TDPOW 90]

Scripture: Luke 16:12 — “And if you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?”

Devotional

Most work involves handling something that belongs to someone else: a company’s resources, a client’s information, a patient’s health, a student’s learning, a customer’s trust, or an investor’s money. Jesus teaches that faithfulness with what belongs to others is a testing ground for greater responsibility.

This includes obvious things—like money and property—but also time, reputation, and confidential information. Stewardship means treating others’ resources with as much care as you’d want someone to treat yours. It’s resisting the urge to take advantage of “little things” just because no one is watching.

Being trustworthy with what belongs to others is a powerful witness. In a world where people often cut corners, your integrity stands out. God sees how you handle other people’s resources—and He delights in those who are faithful.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What resources belonging to others do you handle regularly in your work?

  2. Are there any areas where your stewardship of those resources needs to grow?

  3. How could you demonstrate greater faithfulness and care with what has been entrusted to you?

Prayer

Father, thank You for trusting me with things that belong to others. Help me handle them with integrity, wisdom, and respect. Make me faithful in what is another’s, that I may honor You in all I do. Amen.
