Work can tug on your heart in many ways—stress, conflict, disappointment, praise, and pressure. Without healthy boundaries, your heart can become overwhelmed, hardened, or consumed by what happens on the job. Proverbs calls you to guard your heart, because everything else flows from it.
Guarding your heart doesn’t mean becoming detached or uncaring. It means recognizing that your identity, joy, and peace must not be entirely tied to your work. You can care deeply about what you do while refusing to let every setback define you or every criticism devastate you.
Stewarding emotional boundaries might look like setting limits on how much you replay conversations, learning to leave work concerns with God at day’s end, or inviting trusted friends to help you process rather than carrying everything alone. As you protect your heart, you’re better able to love and serve others from a healthy place.

How well are you “keeping your heart” with vigilance in this season?
What boundary or practice could help you guard your heart more wisely?
Prayer
Lord, my heart is easily pulled in many directions. Help me guard it well. Teach me to care about my work without letting it define me. Let my identity be rooted in You, so that the springs of my life flow from Your love. Amen.
