Stewarding Your Gifts, Not Burying Them [TDPOW #84]

Stewarding Your Gifts, Not Burying Them [TDPOW #84]

Scripture: Matthew 25:14–15 — “…to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability.”

Devotional

In the parable of the talents, the master entrusts resources to his servants and expects them to steward them well. Two invest and multiply what they’ve been given; one buries his talent in the ground out of fear. The issue is not how much they received, but what they did with it.

God has entrusted you with gifts, skills, opportunities, and experiences. Stewardship means more than preserving them; it means developing and using them for His purposes. Playing small out of fear—of failure, of criticism, of responsibility—can lead you to “bury” what God intended to be invested.

You are not responsible for how your gifts compare to others’; you are responsible for what you do with what you’ve been given. When you courageously use your abilities to serve others and honor God, you reflect the faithful servants who heard, “Well done.”

Reflection Questions:

  1. What talents, skills, or opportunities has God entrusted to you in this season?

  2. Are there any ways you’ve been “burying” them out of fear, laziness, or insecurity?

  3. What step of stewardship—training, volunteering, leading, trying—might God be prompting you to take?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the gifts and opportunities You’ve placed in my hands. Forgive me for times I’ve buried them instead of using them. Show me how to steward them boldly and wisely for Your glory and others’ good. Amen.
