Scripture
Psalm 73:26 — “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Devotional
Illness, chronic pain, emotional struggle, or aging can change the way you work. Tasks that used to be easy become hard. Capacity shrinks. You may grieve what you can no longer do and feel guilty that you can’t perform like before.
God sees your weakness—not as a surprise, but as part of the human condition in a fallen world. Your identity was never in your capacity; it has always been in Him. As your flesh and heart fail, He remains the strength of your heart and your portion.
Stewarding work in weakness means doing what you can, with what you have, in dependence on His strength. It may include asking for help, adjusting expectations, or redefining productivity. Your worth is not measured in output but in being His. Even small, faith-filled efforts are precious in His sight.
Reflection Questions
How have physical or emotional limitations affected your work in this season?
Are you carrying guilt or shame over what you can no longer do?
How can you lean into God as your strength and portion, even as your capacity changes?
Prayer
Lord, You know my weaknesses and limitations. I bring them to You. Be the strength of my heart and my portion today. Help me steward what I can do, and rest in Your love for what I cannot. Amen.
