The Broker Who Listens [Commercial Broker #11]

Scripture: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” — James 1:19 (ESV)

Devotional

Listening is one of the most undervalued skills in commercial real estate. Clients don’t just need expertise; they need to feel understood. They need a broker who hears their fears, goals, constraints, and dreams. Listening is not passive—it's an act of service and a mark of humility.

In every conversation, you have a choice: listen to respond, or listen to understand. When you listen deeply, you reflect the heart of Christ, who consistently slowed down enough to hear the needs of people around Him. Listening builds trust in ways marketing and branding never could. It diffuses tension, clarifies expectations, and reveals hidden opportunities that a rushed broker misses.

Be the kind of broker whose presence brings clarity because your ears are open and your spirit is attentive—to people and to the Holy Spirit.

Reflection Questions:

·       How would my client relationships improve if I listened more intentionally?

·       Who in my life or work needs me to pause and really hear them today?

Prayer

Lord, make me a listener like You. Slow my pace, quiet my thoughts, and help me hear the deeper needs behind every conversation. Amen.
