The Character of Compassion [Residential Broker #73]

Scripture: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted…” — Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

Devotional

Behind every transaction is a story. Some sellers are grieving. Some buyers are fearful. Some families are transitioning through divorce, job loss, or health challenges. Compassion isn’t just a soft skill—it is a Christlike posture that elevates your entire ministry as a broker.

Compassion looks like slowing down, listening carefully, validating emotions, and offering support beyond the transaction. It means seeing people as more than contracts, leads, or income—seeing them as image-bearers of God with real needs and real fears.

Compassion deepens trust. It calms overwhelmed clients. It turns ordinary business moments into sacred opportunities for ministry. Some people will remember your compassion long after they forget the details of the sale.

Let tenderness—not pressure—shape your interactions. You may be the calmest voice they hear all week.

Reflection Questions:

·       Whose story might need extra compassion today?

·       Do I slow down enough to notice emotional needs?

·       How can I show Christlike tenderness in a professional setting?

Prayer

Lord, give me eyes to see people as You see them. Soften my heart and help me bring compassion into every interaction. Let my tenderness reflect Your love. Amen.
