The Craft of Negotiation [Residential Broker #156]

Scripture

The tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18.

Devotional

Negotiation is both skill and art. It requires wisdom, emotional intelligence, clarity, patience, and the ability to understand both sides. Excellent negotiators do not manipulate—they advocate, communicate, and seek solutions.

Negotiation through a Christian lens looks like:

  • speaking truthfully,

  • avoiding pressure tactics,

  • staying calm,

  • listening well,

  • and working toward fairness and understanding.

Wise negotiation protects your clients while respecting the other party. It becomes an avenue for healing—not conflict—when handled with grace.

A Christlike negotiator builds unity where others build tension. They guide discussions with integrity and clarity, becoming a source of peace in a process that often becomes combative.

Reflection Questions

How do I respond emotionally in negotiations?

Do I lead with clarity or pressure?

What negotiation skill can I refine today?

Prayer

Lord, give me wisdom in negotiations. Help me advocate with integrity, clarity, and peace, reflecting Your character. Amen.
