Scripture
“The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer…” — Proverbs 15:28 (ESV)
Devotional
Thoughtful people make wiser decisions.
In fast-paced work environments, there is often pressure to respond immediately. Quick answers are valued. Immediate reactions are expected. But wisdom requires careful thinking.
As a banker, your words and decisions carry weight. A rushed response can create confusion, damage trust, or overlook important details. But careful thinking allows you to respond with clarity, wisdom, and discernment.
This discipline involves more than intelligence—it involves self-control. It means resisting the urge to react impulsively and choosing instead to think prayerfully and intentionally.
Jesus often paused before responding. He asked questions, listened carefully, and answered with wisdom because He was never ruled by pressure.
Today, give yourself permission to slow down mentally. Thoughtful responses often create better outcomes than immediate ones.
Reflection Questions
• Do I tend to react quickly or think carefully before responding?
• How could slower, more thoughtful responses improve my work?
Action Step
Before responding to an important situation today, pause briefly to think and pray before speaking.

Father, help me to think carefully and respond wisely. Guard me from impulsive reactions and guide my words with discernment. Amen.
